St Peter’s Church is situated in the rural village of Monks Eleigh in the Lavenham Brook Valley. It is sited at the top of an upward sloping village green which is bordered by a collection of Grade II listed residential buildings and a pub at the bottom of the hill. The Church is surrounded by a graveyard and to the east of the Church is a nature reserve. |
New Priest in Charge
The Monks Eleigh Benefice is excited to announce that it has a new Priest in Charge replacing Reverend Carol Mansell. Apart from some formalities to be completed, the Reverend Mike Birt with his wife Sue will be moving into The Rectory at the end of August - beginning of September.
Mike originally worked as a civilian in the Metropolitan police. Many have got to know Mike and Sue virtually through the Sunday Zoom Services at 10.15 am, Zoom Coffee mornings on Tuesdays at 11.00 am (was Wednesdays), Quiz Evenings and now in person at Church Services. At last we are now holding services in our Churches taking precautions and following all the government guidelines.
From now on we will be holding a church service in Monks Eleigh Church on Wednesday morning at 10.00 am and rotating the Sunday Service as we have done in the past. We will advertise in the Monks Eleigh Shop, Church noticeboards and the Monks Eleigh/Milden/Brent Eleigh Facebook Page where the next service will be held. It is hoped Roundabout magazine will start again in October with local news and church service details.
